Texas State Cemetery

I just got back from a two week vacation.  Drove to Galveston to pick a week-long cruise and then took several days to drive home.  I did minimal waymarking on Grand Cayman - picked up 5 visits.  I am processing my pictures coming home backwards, starting with the stop we made at the Texas State Cemetery in Austin.  This should be a definite stop for anyone interested in history, sports, or just nature as the grounds themselves are beautiful.  I took 42 pictures and made 56 waymark visits from these.  Here are some of the highlights:

Labor Day in Saint Louis

My daughter is REALLY into all things ancient Egypt.  The Saint Louis Art Museum had a very nice special exhibit with some artifacts found excavating two towns that are now under water.  I highly recommend visiting the Saint Louis Art Museum just for the regular art - it's free.

Oh, we also took a quick run across the river to go visit the World's Largest Catsup Bottle.  I truly miss Brooks Catsup - it, mixed with horseradish mustard, made the best dip for boiled shrimp!

I actually was able to get two new waymarks on the Art Museum and several visits.

I finished processing pictures from my latest vacation - 132 pictures taken on my first three days (not sure why I processed these backwards!)  Of these, I was able to create 14 waymark Visits and 40 waymark Posted.  For the trip, I posted 133 waymarks - not bad for a week!

Again, more pictures from my last day of vacation.  I knew there were going to be visits here, but I didn't think I would actually get enough variety of posted waymarks to get a Lucky 7 - those are always fun to post.  87 pictures taken with 6 waymark visits, and 34 waymarks posted.

What an excellent find and gem Helena, Arkansas, turned out to be!  This was the last day of our recent driving vacation along the Great River Road through the Mid-South.  I ended with 94 pictures, 7 waymark visits and 35 waymark posts.  The absolute highlight and gem would be the Confederate Cemetery and the gravesite of Patrick Cleburne.  I had NO idea General Cleburne was buried here, so it turned out to be a VERY unexpected and fortuitous find.

How a Gorilla Dad Waymarks around Mules

I've been rather lax keeping this blog up - here's the latest entry.  We took a leisurely Sunday afternoon drive to Warrensburg, Missouri, today.  This is the home of the University of Central Missouri - Mules, a big rival of my daughters school - Pittsburg State University (Kansas)  I took 277 pictures today in the Sunset Hill Cemetery and in the Downtown Historic District.  I'm hoping for around 30 visits and 100 new waymarks.
